The Presidential Transition Team relies on Acentia to plan and execute the first fully automated Presidential Transition Network

When the Obama Administration took office and needed to transition to a new administration that was fully operational in 90 days, they relied on the Acentia team to implement and operate a state-of-the-art computer and telecommunications system for the 1,300 member transition team.

Business Issue

The General Services Administration (GSA) charter mandates its support of the Presidential transition and handoff from the incumbent to the newly elected administration. These efforts require infrastructure and services for hundreds of Presidential Transition Team (PTT) staff. GSA procured IT services under the Qwest WITS contract, and required an integrator to quickly design and execute an infrastructure for over 1,300 users, including security, provisioning, and support.

Our Solution

Based on Acentia proven track record of providing advanced IT engineering expertise and commitment to customer service, Qwest contracted Acentia for integration and operational support. Acentia worked with the GSA to navigate the complexities of the first completely automated U.S. Presidential Transition Network with over 1,300 users, including the President elect. We provided planning, design, procurement, staging, configuration, testing, installation, support, administration, and monitoring for the advanced next-generation network, which was compliant with all Federal mandates and received Authority to Operate (ATO) 2 days after deployment.

Business Benefit

The PTT network infrastructure spanned eight physical locations including a Network Operations Center that maintained 99.993% network and server availability. We delivered the project on time based on a well-planned project schedule and implementation process, insuring fully operational infrastructure following the announcement of the new President-elect. This program of national importance had no margin for error with extremely tight timelines, and was delivered within budget.
