History

Acentia is a premier provider of technology and management solutions with offices throughout the United States. The company’s history is a typical American story of dedication to values of hard work and high ethical standards.

Two partners founded the company originally as Interactive Technology Solutions in 2001. Their goal was to create a company that would be a trusted partner in managing the complex world of information technology within the federal government. Their commitment of “over delivering” on promises to their customers quickly earned the company new contracts and rapid expansion.

One of the partners had past experience in mergers and acquisitions so they were prepared when they had the chance to acquire a company that met their criteria of adding new capabilities, new customer markets, and a similar culture. It was in 2007 that ITEQ Integrated Technologies was acquired which doubled the size of the company and expanded the company’s service portfolio.

While continuing to grow by winning more business with existing customers and with important new contracts within the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Health and Human Services, and Military Health Services, the company continued to seek out companies to acquire according to the same criteria – strategic new capabilities, customers, and culture. The opportunity came in October 2010 with the acquisition of the IT services portion of NetStar-1, and the company again doubled in size.

Along with the acquisition of the NetStar-1 IT Services group came several operating companies that NetStar-1 had previously acquired. Each of these operating companies had long-established reputations with their customers. Therefore, Aviel Systems and Optimus Corporation joined the family of companies making up the ITSolutions brand along with ITEQ.

Shortly after the company acquired the NetStar-1 IT Services group of companies, the company acquired Peace Technology in November 2010, providing even more capabilities in application development going as far back as 1990.

In December 2010 the company named Todd Stottlemyer CEO, bringing years of valuable leadership experience to the company. One of Todd’s first initiatives was to finalize the integration of all the acquired companies under the new brand Acentia in 2011.

Today, Acentia is well established as a strategic, trusted partner to its Federal Government and commercial customers, essential to programs of national significance. Snow Phipps Group, a $1.2 billion private equity firm based in New York, is the principal shareholder of Acentia.
