Fred Farmer
Under Farmer’s leadership, Acentia focuses on delivering exceptional solutions to its customers, creating a workplace that provides expanding opportunities for employees, and continuing their growth through strategic business opportunities and targeted acquisitions.
Prior to joining Acentia, Farmer worked for the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), where he was appointed acting CIO, and provided leadership for reengineering the overall IT budgeting process for the Agency. He also consolidated support contracts from 35 vendors into a single consolidated infrastructure contract saving the agency over $5 million per year while raising service levels as well as launched an IT transformation program to better manage IT assets through their useful lifecycle thus managing the risk of end-of-life IT assets.
His breadth of IT management, strategic planning, and acquisition integration experience includes executive management positions at ResortQuest International, where he was CIO and president of one of its operating divisions and created a resort property inventory aggregation and distribution engine that reached into the reservation systems of ResortQuest and partner companies to add inventory to the website then make that inventory available to the travel industry GDS such as SABRE and AMADAEUS.
At Marriott International Farmer created a revenue management system for Courtyard and Residence Inn hotels which generated an additional $30 million in revenue per year on the same occupancy rate. He also previously worked for Blue Cross of California, Bank of America, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, and Campbell Soup Company. For years, Farmer has also been actively involved in serving the community through participation on various committees and boards.
